Olympic Track and Field Meet

Our family has been hit by Olympic Fever!  Brett especially likes the track and field events.

He wanted to run in a race – so what do I do?  I planed a Track and Field Olympic Meet for us and all our friends – and you of course.

We are going to have it on Saturday July 14th at a near by middle school track.

Here is a list of the events we will be having. We will have age groups and boy/girl heats.  If any adults want to race we will run them too.

  • 50 yard Dash
  • 100 yard Dash
  • 440 yard  (once around the track)
  • 1 mile run (4 times around the track)
  • 4×100 family relay (complete with batons – thanks Ragnar Relay)
  • 4×400 family relay
  • Softball Throw
  • Frisbee Throw
  • Long Jump

Here is the Schedule of events

2:00  Check in of athletes will begin – sign up for the races which your kids/you want to participate in.

2:20  Opening Ceremony – All Athlete’s can participate if they want to

2:30  First event begins – 3 and under 50 yard dash

We will be handing out 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons for each race.  All participants will get an otter pop after their last race.

Brett last night wanted to go and pratice at the track.

He did great.  I figured he’d make a 100 meter distance and then be tired.  Nope he ran 4 100 meter distances and loved every minute of it.  Although if I got in front of him, he let me know that HE was going to win.

Looking forward to the 14th and I’m sure there will be a few pictures and a post following it.  Brett showing his winning smile after finishing his last sprint and winning every sprint.
