Nijo-jo Castle – Kyoto Japan

Loved this castle.  It was built in 1603 as the residence of the first Tokugawa shogun.  It was amazing to see how much room was used to let people know what class they belonged in.  They were lots of different rooms which were used to get a step closer to the Shogun.  We were able to learn about Nightingale flooring.  They built the floor so that it would creak and sound like a Nightingale.  It was so cool.  You couldn’t sneak in.  Every step the floor chirped.  I would say they were slightly paranoid.

The grounds were great to walk around.  I loved how they had steps leading up to the top of the walls around the parade.

Loved this place.
